Producers Network: Polish Day

The Producers Network meeting, which took place on May 22 within the framework of the 66th Cannes International Film Festival, featured a presentation of the Polish Film Institute by five film producers from Poland and representatives of the Polish Film Institute.

May 22: Polish Day

The Polish Day, dedicated to Polish cinema, was aimed at creating an opportunity for participants to meet with representatives of the Polish Film Institute and selected Polish producers in order to learn about the activities of the Institute, the Polish system of film financing, and regulations concerning co-production with Poland.

The event was a breakfast meeting. 16 thematic tables were prepared for representatives of some of the largest film funds supporting film production, including the Doha Film Institute and the Apulia Film Commission, as well as co-production funds, such as the World Cinema Fund within the Berlinale Co-Production Market, headed by Sonja Heinen, representatives of film markets (Cine Link – Sarajevo, Cinemart – Rotterdam), distributors and sales agents (including Entertainment One, represented by Charlotte Mickie, and Celluloid Dreams, represented by Hengameh Panahi, Fortissimo Films – Ellis Driessen, as well as the US-based Magnolia Pictures and Sony Pictures Classics, and China’s Golden Network Asia). The event was also attended by representatives of the Iris Group, a company that handles production and distribution, with branches in Luxembourg, France, Germany, Belgium, and the United Kingdom. The television market was represented by TF1.

Five film producers from Poland took part in the presentation: Agnieszka Kurzydło (MD4), Małgorzata Jurczak (Scorpion Arte), Marta Laryssa Plucińska (Federico Film), Mikołaj Pokromski (Pokromski Studio), and Łukasz Dzięcioł (Opus Film).

The Producers Network also featured presentations on the film industries of other countries, including Russia and Canada.

Launched in 2004, the Producers Network is attended annually by 550 representatives of the film industry from around the world. Participation in this event is an excellent opportunity to meet with potential partners for co-production or distribution, and for promoting films.
