Retrospective of Polish animated films in Israel

A retrospective of Polish animated films is being staged until 3 June at three locations in Israel. Viewers will see over 50 films during the festival, among whose official guests will be Zbigniew Rybczyński and Izabela Plucińska.

The retrospective will be divided in five subject blocks: “Classics”, “New Directions”, “Half Serious”, “Experiment”, and “For Children”. The programme includes classics by Jan Lenica, Walerian Borowczyk, and the artist known as Natalia LL, but also films by artists from the younger generation, including Tomasz Bagiński, Grzegorz Jonkajtys, and Paweł Borowski.

The retrospective was organised by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in cooperation with the Archives in Israel, and the National Archives in Warsaw. The project is a part of Polish Year in Israel 2008/2009.
