Reverse at 9th TIFF in Romania

Rewers (Reverse) by Borys Lankosz will be screened in Main Competition at the 9th Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF). Krystyna Janda will be attending the festival as a special guest.

A total of 209 films were screened at the 2009 edition of the Transylvania Film Festival, which takes place annually in the town of Cluj-Napoka. Festival screenings gather over 50 thousand admissions each year. Many Romanian features that later went on to receive recognition at key international film festivals were first screened here, including the 2007 Golden Palm winner at Cannes – 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 days by Cristian Mungiu.

This year’s Main Competition line-up brings twelve features; all are films by first- and second-time directors. The Polish feature Reverse will compete against films from Spain [Gordos by Daniel Sanchez Arevalo, director of Azuloscurocasinegro (DarkBlueAlmostBlack)], Denmark (R by Tobias Lindholm and Michael Noer), the Netherlands (Nothing Personal by Urszula Antoniak), and Romania (Medal of Honor by Calin Peter Netzer).

This year’s TIFF jury members include: Christine Dollhofer – representative of the Linz Film Festival from Austria; Martin Blaney – journalist from Screen International; actress Monica Barladeanu, and Geoffrey Gilmore – former director of the Sundance Film Festival.

The 9th Transylvania International Film Festival will run from May 28 to June 6, 2010.
