"Rollercoaster" in San Sebastian

Granice wytrzymałości (Rollercoaster), a student film directed by Marek Marlikowski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, is one of a number of short student films selected for screening at the 13th International Film Student Meeting of the 62nd San Sebastian International Film Festival between September 23 and September 26.

A Student Film Made with Support from the Polish Film Institute

The short feature Granice wytrzymałości (Rollercoaster) was produced at the Radio and Television Department of the University of Silesia in Katowice. “A young girl practices hard before an unusual test. She does her best to gain complete control over her body’s reactions. She dives, runs, meditates. Despite the intense training, her body refuses to behave the way she wants it to behave. She fights on, despite arising health issues and family complications. During the long-awaited test, emotions fly high. The two life paths – her passion on one hand, her family on the other – will intertwine in a way that the events of the day will forever remain engraved in her mind,” reads the film description on the school website.

A Film Starring Justyna Wasilewska

The lead role in Marek Marlikowski’s film was played by Justyna Wasilewska, with supporting performances by Rafał Królikowski and Jan Lech. The film was written and directed by Marek Marlikowski, and lensed by Zofia Goraj. Kinga Nawrocka and Karolina Papadomichelaki acted as production managers. The film previously screened at the Fresh Film Fest in the Czech Republic and in the short film competition at the New Horizons Film Festival.

The 13th International Film Student Meeting in San Sebastian

Marek Marlikowski’s film will screen in San Sebastian in the student short film competition, which showcases projects from film schools around the world. A total of 169 short films from 79 film schools in 29 countries were submitted for festival consideration, of which 14 titles were selected for screening. In 2011, this festival section showcased another Polish student film: Twist & Blood by Kuba Czekaj.
