Roman Polański's Unique Screenplay Up for Auction

Roman Polański has donated his working script of Bitter Moon to Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy (The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity) – a Polish charity that supplies public hospitals in Poland with medical equipment. Bidding is open through January 21.

A Unique Screenplay

Roman Polański’s first draft of the Bitter Moon screenplay includes 176 scenes in English and French, the director’s hand-written notes, and an inscription (in Polish) about the above-mentioned charity.

“I wanted to donate the original screenplay, i.e. my shooting script. I don’t have many of those left, because there have been numerous occasions of other auctions, where I donated other screenplays. This one seemed appropriate, because it has a lot of hand-written notes and might be an interesting item for someone who collects this type of memorabilia,” said Roman Polański about the donated screenplay.

An Online Auction

Roman Polański’s screenplay is up for auction at the following link aukcje.wosp.org.pl/roman-polanski-unikatowy-scenariusz-gorzkie-gody-i1283748 on Poland’s top online auction website, as one of the film-related auctions for the Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy, which are coordinated by the Polish Film Institute. Bidding is open through January 21, 12.42 (UTC).

Bitter Moon

Bitter Moon was written by Roman Polański, Gérard Brach and John Brownjohn, based on a 1981 novel by Pascal Bruckner. The film, made in 1992 as a co-production between France and the United Kingdom, stars Emmanuelle Seigner, Kristin Scott Thomas, Hugh Grant, and Peter Coyote.
