Second Edition of the School of Film Agents (SOFA)
The second edition of the School of Film Agents (SOFA), a series of workshops for film professionals from Eastern and Central Europe, Germany, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and the Balkans, will run from August 15 through August 24, 2014 in Wrocław. The event is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
Supporting Innovative Projects
SOFA is aimed at supporting innovative cinema projects and strengthening local film culture. These workshops are organized for festival programmers, curators, distributors, and other professionals focused on developing film culture in their regions. Eligible projects include film festivals, regional film funds, independent art house cinemas, film museums, archives, VoD platforms, as well as educational initiatives.

- Anna Bielak and Urszula Lipińska – Poland – AUR! Magazine – awesome/unique/radical! – a film magazine for Polish readers;
- Dániel Deák – Hungary – Festivalised – an online guide to film festivals for professionals;
- Kestutis Drazdauskas – Lithuania – FRONT Film Republic of Networked Theaters – digital cinema network;
- Cristian Hordila – Romania – Cluj City Film Fund;
- Marija Stojanovic – Serbia – What I See – a programme aimed at audience development and at fostering a critical approach to audiovisual culture and arts;
- Angeliki Vergou – Greece – Octapus – VoD platform for Greek films;
- Jakub Viktorín – Slovakia – DDS Digital Database of Slovakia: online digital library providing access to Slovakian films;
- Jonas Weydemann – Germany – Directors Collection – a platform for European film professionals.
Workshops with Professionals
Participants of the second edition of SOFA will work on their projects with experienced film professionals from around the world, including Sibylle Kurz – pitching expert, Robert Olla – executive director of Eurimages, Ewa Puszczyńska – producer with Opus Film, Renaud Redien-Collot of Novancia Business School in Paris, producer Peter Rommel (Peter Rommel Film), and Katriel Schory – director of the Israel Film Fund.
An Event Co-Financed by the Polish Film Institute
The second edition of the SOFA School of Film Agents is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute and organized by Filmplus gemeinnützige UG, CEO: Nikolaj Nikitin & Oliver Baumgarten. The event is organized in partnership with the City of Wrocław, the 2016 European Capital of Culture, Creative Europe Poland, the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation, the Goethe Institut, the New Horizons Association, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Film Commission Poland, the Wrocław Film Commission, Eave, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, and the Alfred Toepfer Foudation.
