Silver Bear for Roman Polański

At the 60th Berlin International Film Festival, which ended last Saturday, Roman Polański received the Silver Bear for Best Director for his latest feature The Ghost Writer. The film was released in Polish cinemas on Friday, February 19.

 

The Golden Bear for Best Film went to Turkish director Semih Kaplanoglu’s feature Bal (Honey).

 

Other awards:

 

Silver Bear – The Jury Grand Prix: Eu cand vreau sa fluier, fluier (If I Want To Whistle, I Whistle) by Florin Serban.

Award for Best Actress: Shinobu Terajima for her role in Caterpillar by Koji Wakamatsu.

Awards for Best Actor (ex aequo): Grigori Dobrygin and Sergei Puskepalis for their roles in Kak ya provel etim letom (How I Ended This Summer) by Alexei Popogrebsky.

Award for Best Cinematography: Pavel Kostomarov for Kak ya provel etim letom (How I Ended This Summer).

Award for Best Screenplay: Wang Quan’an and Na Jin for Tuan Yuan (Apart Together), directed by Wang Quan’an.

Alfred Bauer Prize, annual award for a work of particular innovation: Florin Serban for Eu cand vreau sa fluier, fluier (If I Want To Whistle, I Whistle).
