The 60th Krakow Film Festival is entirely online

For the first time, films participating in the 60th Krakow Film Festival will be screened not at cinemas, but at online screenings throughout Poland. In addition to documentary, animated and short feature films from around the world, there will be shows of the latest and most important Polish productions. The online event will last from May 31 to June 7.

It is at this festival that Polish filmmakers have a chance to confront their works with their native audiences, as well as with over a thousand guests, representatives of the film industry from Poland and abroad. The Krakow Film Festival is on the exclusive list of events qualifying for the American Film Academy award in the feature documentary film category, and the winner of the Golden Horn has a shortened Oscar selection path. KFF also qualifies movies for the Oscar also in short categories (feature, animation, documentary), and recommends for the European Film Award in the same categories.

Polish films in international competitions

Three Polish films will be screened in the international documentary competition. These are „Different States of Consciousness” by Piotr Stasik, „The Whale of Lorino” by Maciej Cusky and „The Ordinary Country” by Tomasz Wolski. The Swedish film by Jerzy Śladkowski „Bitter Love” was also made with Polish participation. There will also be Polish productions in the international short film competition. Short documentaries, features and animations will compete for the Golden and Silver Dragons award. „Alicja i Żabka” directed by Olga Bołądź and „Problem” by Tomasz Wolski will appear among the features.

Polish animations will be represented by Tomek Ducki with the latest production „Plantarium” and Marcin Wojciechowski with the film „Backstage Episodes”. In the competition, we will also see two Polish short documentaries. „Dad You’ve Never Had” by Dominika Łapa and „I need your hugs” directed by Andrej Kuciła.

This year, the 60th Krakow Film Festival will open on May 31, the film „Pollywood” by Paweł Ferdek. The image „Submission” by Michał Ciechomski will also be shown. In turn, in the animation, there are many feminine productions such as „Body” by Weronika Szymy, „Female Portrait” by Natalia Durszewicz, „I am here” by Julia Orlik, „Paper House” by Martyna Hołda or „Own Garbage” by Daria Kopiec. The Panorama of the Polish document includes „The House of Writers, or a Collected File” by Marek Gajczak, „The Midwife” directed by Maria Stachurska, „My Sleepless Night” by Ryszard Lenczewski or „On the Mount Tyrryra” by Renata Kijowska. A detailed program of the festival will be published in mid-May.
