"The Christening" in Czech cinemas

The Christening

 

Marcin Wrona’s feature Chrzest (The Christening) has been shown in the Czech cinemas since February 23, 2012. The film was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Premiere in the Czech Republic

The premiere of The Christening (Czech title: Křtiny) took place in Prague. The film was very well accepted by the Czech audience. First screening in the Czech Republic was held at the Prague International Film Festival Fabiofest in March 2011 where the film received the main prize. Film Europe is the Czech distributor of the film. The Czech Republic is another country after Spain, Great Britain, Ireland and the USA, where viewers will have the possibility to see the film in cinemas. The Christening will also be shown in Slovakia.

The Christening

Michał has everything he ever dreamed of – a beautiful wife named Magda, a new-born son, and his own company. He invites a friend from old years, Janek, to be his son’s godfather. But that is just the beginning of Michał’s plan, he asks Janek to become interested in Magda. Firstly the plan seems to work but later on Michał finds it more and more difficult to deal with. He knows that his deeply hidden past will finally come to him, and Janek will have to make a decision which outcomes he will never forget.

Lead actors: Schuchardt, Zieliński, Rybicka, and Woronowicz

The Christening is Wrona’s second feature film. It was written by Grażyna Trela, Grzegorz Jankowski, and Dariusz Glazer. The film features Tomasz Schuchardt, Wojciech Zieliński, Natalia Rybicka, and Adam Woronowicz. Polish premiere took place in October 2012 during the Warsaw Film Festival. The Christening received many film awards in Poland and abroad. Odeon film studio is the producer of the film. The Christening was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
