"The Domino Effect" Wins

Efekt Domina (The Domino Effect), a feature-length documentary film directed by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski, received an award at the DokuFest film festival in Pristina.

Award for Impressive Sensitivity

Efekt Domina (The Domino Effect) received an award in the festival’s International Dox section. The film competed against twelve other feature-length documentary films from around the world. The jury was “impressed by the sensitivity and tact with which the real lives of the protagonists [were] brought to the screen.” The jury also recognized the directors’ way of illustrating romantic love in the face of a complicated political situation in the geopolitical reality in which the two protagonists live. Previous Awards for Efekt Domina (The Domino Effect)

The Kosovo award is not the first form of recognition enjoyed by Efekt Domina (The Domino Effect). The film previously received awards at the Visions du Réel film festival in Switzerland, the 54th Krakow Film Festival and at the Golden Apricot IFF in Armenia. The film was also presented at last year’s edition of the Docs to go! project, a joint initiative of the Polish Film Institute and the Krakow Film Foundation organized within the framework of the 53rd Krakow Film Festival.

Other Polish Films at the 2014 DokuFest

This year’s DokuFest festival featured a total of four Polish productions. The documentary short film competition lineup included Sati, a film by Bartłomiej Świderski. The International Shorts section featured Darling, an animated film by Izabela Plucińska and Albert, a short feature by Daniel Wawrzyniak.

The DokuFest International Film Festival in Pristina ran from August 16 through August 24.
