The film „The In-Laws” awarded at the festival in Vancouver

Polish comedy „The In-Laws” won the „People’s Choice Award” at the Vancouver International Film Festival. Kuba Michalczuk’s feature debut was shown in the Contemporary World Cinema section. The film received financial support under the „Inncentive” system operated by the Polish Film Institute.

Is a wedding after a canceled wedding a recipe for a disaster? Definately! Two families differ in everything – origin, status, wealth, and taste. The parents of the groom (Maja Ostaszewska, Marcin Dorociński) and the bride (Izabela Kuna, Adam Woronowicz) are initially shocked. What happened? Who is at fault? What about the wedding? Do you greet visitors? Play music? Pour on vodka? Who will cut the cake?

Small talk and polite smiles turn into washing dirty linien in public. And finally, a real bomb explodes… Meanwhile, the wedding takes off into a crazy party. And no one is bothered by the lack of a young couple.

Film makers

The director of the film is Kuba Michalczuk, Marek Modzelewski is responsible for the script, and the cinematographer is Michał Englert. Marta Zając and Jakub Zwolak were responsible for the setting and interior design, Wojciech Włodarski for the editing, Katarzyna Lewińska for the costumes, Liliana Gałązka and Ludmiła Krawczyk for the make-up, Jerzy Rogiewicz for the music, and Błażej Kafarski for the sound.

The producer of  „The In-Laws” is Michał Kwieciński (Akson Studio), the executive producer – Małgorzata Fogel-Gabryś, and the co-producer and distributor –  Next Film. The film has a premiere at Polish cinemas on September 10.
