"The Word" at Film Festivals Abroad

Obietnica (The Word), a film directed by Anna Kazejak and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, is scheduled to screen at several international film festivals.

From Karlovy Vary to Taipei

Anna Kazejak’s Obietnica (The Word) has been selected to screen at a number of international film festivals in Europe and Asia. At the Cinema Jove International Film Festival, which runs from June 20 through June 27, Anna Kazejak’s latest feature will screen in the International Feature Film Competition.

 

The film will later screen in the ‘Contemporary Selection’ section of the 16th Taipei IFF (June 27 to July 19), which showcases several of the latest Polish productions. Obietnica (The Word) will also screen at the 49th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (July 4-12) and in Italy at the 44th Giffoni International Children’s Film Festival (July 18-27).

 

Obietnica (The Word) will also screen at the Small Summer Film School in the Czech Republic (July 25 through August 2) and at the Oosetnde International Film Festival in Belgium (September 6-14).

Obietnica (The Word)

Obietnica (The Word) is a psychological drama about the teenage love of high school students Lila and Janek. They are part of the Skype and Facebook generation. One day, Lila breaks up with Janek out of the blue, accusing him of being unfaithful. Janek, still in love with his girl, will have to pay a high price for an innocent mistake. The film is set in Szczecin and based on real events.

A Film Co-Financed by the Polish Film Institute

The script of Obietnica (The Word), which qualified for the finale of the 2013 Script Pro Screenwriting Competition, was written by Anna Kazejak and Magnus von Horn. The project was also presented at the Berlinale Co-Production Market in 2012. The film was lensed by Klaudiusz Dwulit, produced by Opus Film and made in co-production with Denmark. The film was also co-financed by the Polish Film Institute and the Eurimages fund.

World Premiere at Berlinale

The world premiere of Obietnica (The Word) took place at the 64th Berlin IFF. Anna Kazejak’s feature screened in the festival’s Generation14plus section.

Theatrical Release on March 14

Obietnica (The Word) was released theatrically in Poland on March 14, 2014. Distribution in Poland is handled by Kino Świat.
