„The Zone of Interest” with three Golden Globes nominations  

„The Zone of Interest by Jonathan Glazer has received three Golden Globes nominations. The Film, which is co-financed by Polish Film Institute, was granted nominations in the ; Best Picture – Drama, Best Picture – Non-English Language and Best Original Score categories. The 81st Golden Globes ceremony will take place on January7th. 

“The Zone of Interest” will compete for three Golden Globes. Hollywood Foreign Press Association has decided that the Polish co-production will compete in three categories: Best Picture – Drama, Best Picture – Non-English Language and the film score by Mica Levi will compete in the Best Original Score category. 

“The Zone of Interest” – what is it about? 

The film by Jonathan Glazer is based upon a book by Martin Amis. It focuses on the family life of Commandant of Auschwitz-Birkenau Death Camp, Rudolf Höss. The film depicts the everyday life of his family in the (quite literal) shadow of the Holocaust. 

After its premiere at Cannes Film Festival, the jurors and critics didn’t hide their high praises. That is evident in the FIPRESCI Award, granted during this year’s edition of the festival. Foreign media has dubbed “The Zone of Interest” a blood-boiling, deep meditation (Variety), which will hunt its viewers long after the screening (Deadline); terrifying and necessary in today’s world (Vanity Fair), frightening look at the banality of evil (IndieWire).  

 “The Zone of Interest” – polish co-production 

“The Zone of Interest” is a US-UK-Polish co-production, co-financed by A24, Film4, Access Entertainment and Polish Film Institute. The film was entierly shot in Poland by Polish cinematographer and two-time Academy Award nominee Łukasz Żal.  

The film has a plethora of other Polish collaborators: Ewa Puszczyńska (polish producer), Joanna Kuś (set design), Waldemar Pokromski (characterization), Małgorzata Karpiuk (costumes), Małgorzata Bereźnicka (production manager from Extreme Emotions), Bartek Raiński (coproducer) and Stanisław Cuske (cameraman).The 2024 Golden Globe Awards ceremony takes place Sunday, Jan. 7, from 8-11 p.m. ET (5-8 p.m. PT), and will be broadcast live on CBS as part of a new deal between the Golden Globes and the network. The ceremony will also be available to stream on Paramount+ and the CBS app
