"To Thy Heart" in Berlin

The lineup of the Berlinale Shorts competition at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival was announced on January 13. The list of participants of Berlinale Talents (formerly known as Talent Campus) and projects at the Co-Production Market were also announced.

Do serca Twego (To Thy Heart) in Berlinale Shorts Competition

Do serca Twego (To Thy Heart), a short animated film directed by Ewa Borysewicz and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, is the only Polish film in the Berlinale Shorts lineup. The film premiered at the 53rd Krakow Film Festival; Ewa Borysewicz made this project after graduating from the Fine Arts Academy in Krakow. Her animated student film Kto by pomyślał? (Who Would Have Thought; 2009) received multiple awards in Poland and screened in competition at several international film festivals, including MIAF, Animateka, and PremiersPlans.

Berlin Premiere Scheduled for February 11

The Berlinale premiere of the film has been set for February 11. The animated film Do serca Twego (To Thy Heart) will screen in competition as one of 25 films from 21 countries. The film was produced by Animaso and Serafiński Studio. International promotion is handled by the Krakow Film Foundation. Since 1955, Berlinale’ annually awards Golden and Silver Bears in the Shorts competition, and since 2003, the films are judged by the International Short Film Jury. Other awards for the winners of the short film competition include a nomination for the European Film Awards and the DAAD Short Film Prize (a three-month scholarship in Berlin).

Berlinale Talents 2014

Berlinale Talents is the new name of the Talent Campus workshop for young filmmakers, which will have its 14th edition as a side event of the Berlin International Film Festival. This year’s edition of the event will be attended by producer Aleksandra Wojtaszek, film critic Ewa Wildner, and directors Justyna Tafel and Magdalena Szymków. Berlinale Talents 2014 runs from February 8 through February 13.

Co-Production Market

One of the 39 projects from 30 countries screening at this year’s 11th edition of the Berlinale Co-Production Market is Zjednoczone Stany Miłości (United States of Love), the latest project by director Tomasz Wasilewski. This project has been included in the Berlinale Co-Production Market lineup through the “Rotterdam-Berlinale Express” initiative, which takes films that launched at Rotterdam’s CineMart to screen in Berlin as well.

 

The 64th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival runs from February 6 through February 16.
