Wajda School Projects Storm Festivals

This autumn, films produced and co-produced by the Wajda Film Schools will screen at international film festivals in the United States, Canada and France, among others.

Festivals in the United States

Two Wajda Film School productions will screen in competition at the Polish Film Festival in America (November 6-22). This Chicago event will show Andrzej Wajda: Let’s Shoot!, a Paladino production made in co-production with Telekomunikacja Polska, and Woman Wanted by Michał Marczak, produced as part of the First Documentary Programme; a joint project of the Wajda Film School, Studio Munka of the Polish Filmmakers Association, the Polish Film Institute and TVP Kultura.

The Austin Polish Film Festival (November 5-8) screened On Credit by Przemysław Nowakowski. This project was produced by the Wajda Film School as part of the 30 Minutes Programme; a joint project of the Wajda Film School, Studio Munka of the Polish Filmmakers Association, the Polish Film Institute and TVP Kultura.

Screenings in Canada

At this year’s Toronto Polish Film Festival (October 2-4) three films from the Wajda Film School were screened: two features made in the 30 Minutes Programme – Aria Diva by Agnieszka Smoczyńska and What It’s Like to be My Mother by Norah McGettigan, as well as the documentary PRL de Luxe by Edyta Wróblewska, produced as part of the First Documentary Programme.

Festivals in France

The European Short Film Festival in Brest (November 7-15) screened the short feature Sleepwalkers by Maciej Sterło-Orlicki. The film was produced by the Wajda Film School as part of the 30 Minutes Programme.

Other films from the 30 Minutes Programme: Aria Diva by Agnieszka Smoczyńska will be screened in competition at the Paris International Lesbian & Feminist Film Festival (October 29 to November 2).

The Les Impatientes International Documentary Student Film Festival in Saint-Ouen will screen two documentaries of the Wajda Film School: Felgarz z Woli by Kuba Maciejko and Popatrz by Adam Palenta, as well as two films co-produced as part of the First Documentary Programme: Matka by Jakub Piątek and Woman Wanted by Michał Marczak.

Films in Germany

This year’s The Way We Live! International Short Film Festival in Munich (November 4-7) will screen the documentary Henio, idziemy na Widzew by Michał Jóźwiak and the feature short What It’s Like to be My Mother by Norah McGettigan.

Screenings in the United Kingdom

Two films produced by the Wajda Film School will be screened in the UK in mid-November at the Polish Film Festival in Rochester (November 14-18). They will be two projects of the First Documentary Programme: Matka by Jakub Piątek and Woman Wanted by Michał Marczak.
