"Ziegenort" Wins at Brooklyn FF

Tomasz Popakul’s Ziegenort received the award for Best Animated Film at the 16th Brooklyn Film Festival, which closed on June 9.

Ziegenort is an animated film about a small fishing village in an alternate world, where the Second World War never took place. All the creatures in this village, humans and animals alike, live by the laws of nature. A father tries to teach his job the fishing trade.

Another Award for Ziegenort

The award of the Brooklyn Film Festival marks another in a series of forms of recognition for Ziegenort. To date, the film has received the Grand Prize at the 59th Oberhausen International Short Film Festival and the Silver Hobby-Horse Award for Best Animated Film in Polish Competition at the 53rd Krakow Film Festival.

Five Polish Films in Festival Lineup

In addition to Tomasz Popakul’s Ziegenort, festival audiences had the opportunity to see several other Polish films: Arbuz (Watermelon) by Tato Kotetishvili, Punkt wyjścia (Exit Point) by Jagoda Szelc, Rogalik by Paweł Ziemilski, and Dróżnik (The Railway Watchman) by Piotr Szczepanowicz. The festival lineup also featured Flying Blind (Polish title: Zaślepiona) – the feature debut from Polish director Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, produced in the United Kingdom.
