Katarzyna Kwiatkowska received the Best Actress Award of the Voices International Festival in Vologda for her performance in Dzień kobiet (Women's Day), a film directed by Maria Sadowska and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
Polish Films Awarded at 48th Karlovy Vary IFF
The 48th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival has drawn to a close. Two Polish films received awards at the closing gala of this year's edition of the festival. Papusza by Joanna Kos-Krauze and Krzysztof Krauze received Special Mention of the Main Competition Jury, while Płynące wieżowce (Floating Skyscrapers) by Tomasz Wasilewski received the Crystal Globe for Best Film in the East of the West competition.
Polish Screenwriters' Achievements
Screenplays written by Krzysztof Burdza and Maciej Rogala have received recognition at the international screenwriting competition in Barcelona.
"Baby Blues" Awarded in Taipei
Bejbi Blues (Baby Blues), a film directed by Katarzyna Rosłaniec and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the Special Jury Prize at the 15th Taipei International Film Festival.
"In the Name Of…" Wins in Milan
W imię... (In the Name Of...), a film directed by Małgorzata Szumowska and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the award for Best Feature Film at the 27th Mix Milano IFF.
SOFA in Wrocław
The first edition of the School of Film Agents (SOFA), a series of industry workshops for film professionals from Eastern and Central Europe, Germany, Central Asia, countries of the Caucasus, and Balkan states, will take place at Wrocław's New Horizons Cinema (Kino Nowe Horyzonty) between August 19 and August 30. The project is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
Kieślowski in Reims
An exhibition entitled "The World According to Krzysztof Kieślowski", co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, is on display at the Jean Falal Médiathèque in Reims from July 3 through August 3, 2013. The exhibition is accompanied by a retrospective of films by Krzysztof Kieślowski.
"The Whistle" Awarded in London
Grzegorz Zariczny's Gwizdek (The Whistle), which has screened at over 20 international film festivals to date, continues to keep a good pace. Last week, the film received an award at the Open City Docs Fest in London.

Andrzej Żuławski will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Fantasia International Film Festival, which runs from July 18 through August 6, 2013 in Montreal.
"Viva Bel@rus!" Awarded in Brussels
Żywie Biełaruś (Viva Bel@rus!), a film directed by Krzysztof Łukaszewicz and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, has received the award for Best Screenplay at the Flagey International Film Festival in Brussels, which closed on June 26.
Polish Films in Moscow
A presentation of new Polish film projects with co-production potential was held on June 24, 2013 within the framework of the fifth edition of the Moscow Business Square film market, which accompanied the 35th Moscow International Film Festival. The presentation was organized by the Polish Film Institute.

Paweł Maślona's student film Magma, produced by the Radio and Television Faculty of the University of Silesia and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the award for Best Student Live Action Short Over 15 Minutes at the 19th Palm Springs International ShortFest.
