Polish Films at Rotterdam IFF
Three Polish films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute will screen at the 42nd Rotterdam International Film Festival, which runs from January 23 through February 3, 2013. The three films are: Nieulotne (Lasting) by Jacek Borcuch, Fuck For Forest by Michał Marczak, and Ixjana by Michał Skolimowski and Józef Skolimowski.
Wojciech Staroń Awarded in NYC
The awards ceremony of the prestigious Cinema Aye Honors awards for documentary filmmakers was held on January 9 at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City. One of the award-winning films is Argentyńska lekcja (Argentinian Lesson) by Wojciech Staroń, co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

January 3 brought the opening of the 24th Palm Springs International Film Festival. This year's festival lineup features several films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
Hoffman Exhibition in Budapest
An exhibition commemorating the work of director Jerzy Hoffman entitled "Jerzy Hoffman. Cinema with History in the Background" will be on display at the Polish Institute in Budapest until January 31.
Polański in London
An exhibition of posters of Roman Polański's films, prepared by the Museum of Cinematography in Łódź, is on display at the British Film Institute in London until February 28, 2013.
Czech Awards Nomination for Sikora
On January 4, the Association of Czech Film Critics announced this year's nominations for its awards for films produced in the Czech Republic in 2012. Eight nominations went to Ve stinu (English title: In the Shadow; Polish title: W cieniu) by David Ondříček, a film made in co-production between Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. One of the nominations for Best Cinematography went to In the Shadow's Polish cinematographer Adam Sikora.
Polish Project at Trieste IFF Forum
The list of projects that qualified for next year's When East Meets West co-production forum of the Trieste IFF has been announced. Among selected projects is the latest feature by Polish director Greg Zgliński. The When East Meets West forum runs from January 21 through January 23, 2013.

The 10th Crossing Europe International Film Festival, which runs in Linz from April 23 through April 28, 2013, will feature a retrospective of films by Przemysław Wojcieszek.
"Baby Blues" at 2013 Berlinale
Bejbi Blues (Baby Blues), directed by Katarzyna Rosłaniec and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, will screen in the Generation 14plus section of the upcoming 63rd Berlin International Film Festival, which runs from February 7 through February 17, 2013.
Call for Program Ekran 2013
Ekran, organized by Wajda Studio and Wajda School, is a training program focusing on the creative pre-production process based on shooting practice. Deadline for application is January 21st, 2013. Participation in this program is free.

Święto zmarłych (All Souls' Day) by Aleksandra Terpińska will screen in Main Competition at the 35th International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand. The festival runs from February 1 through February 9, 2013.

According to information from the Krakow Film Festival team, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has added Krakow's Silver Dragon awards to the list of awards that enable films to qualify for Academy Award® consideration in the short film category.
Polish Filmmakers Awarded in Cairo
December 6 brought the closing of the 35th Cairo International Film Festival. The Tahrir Square Prize, the top prize in the Human Rights Competition, went to Róża (Rosa) by Wojciech Smarzowski. The Best Actor award in Cairo's International Competition went to Marian Dziędziel for his performance in Piąta pora roku (The Fifth Season of the Year) by Jerzy Domaradzki.
"My Name is Ki" in French Cinemas
Ki (My Name Is Ki) by Leszek Dawid will be released in French cinemas on December 19, 2012. The film was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
"Rebelle" Wins Golden Frog
December 1 brought the closing of the 20th edition of the Plus Camerimage International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography in Bydgoszcz. The event was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
