Once again, Polish documentary films have a chance to be awarded at the prestigious IDFA Amsterdam Documentary Film Festival. Polish cinema will also be present in non-competitive sections.

"Corpus Christi" picked up by Film Movement for North America

Jan Naszewski’s New Europe Film Sales announced that the North American rights to Jan Komasa’s Venice and TIFF drama “Corpus Christi” were sold to Film Movement. The deal was concluded with Film Movement’s President, Michael Rosenberg, at the MIA market in Rome ahead of AFM. The film will be featured at the Deadline Contenders event on Nov 2nd and it is Poland’s submission to this year’s International Oscar race.

Polish animations "Acid Rain" and "Portrait of Suzanne" with a chance to be nominated for an Oscar®

Polish animations co-financed by the Polish Film Institute "Acid Rain" and "Portrait of Suzanne" were among the films that can apply for an Oscar® nomination in the category of Best Animated Short Film 2020. The minority co-production "The Kite" also has a chance to be nominated.

JAN KOMASA’S "CORPUS CHRISTI" SELECTED AS POLAND'S OSCAR CANDIDATE

The Oscar Committee comprised of members of the Polish film industry and the Polish Film Institute, including Ewa Puszczyńska (chairwoman), Radosław Śmigulski, Łukasz Żal, Mariusz Łukomski, Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, Anna Zamecka oraz Małgorzata Szczepkowska-Kalemba has selected CORPUS CHRISTI (BOŻE CIAŁO) by Jan Komasa, to be Poland's candidate for this year's Academy Awards in the International Feature Film category.

"Corpus Christi" won the Europa Cinemas Label and the Inclusive Award Edipo Re at the 76th Venice International Film Festival. The second film co-financed by the Polish Film Institute which left Venice with awards is the Italian-Polish co-production "Sole".
