Andrzej Wajda celebrates nomination for Oscar Award
"It would not be bad if I got the Oscar," said Andrzej Wajda after being notified he had been nominated for an Academy Award for his film Katyń. "When I received the Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement, I felt as if I were getting an award for old people."

Katyń was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Award, and the Polish-British Peter and the Wolf by Suzie Templeton was nominated for the Best Animated Short Film Award.
The Polish Film Institute Awards
A ceremonial gala was held at Multikino "Zlote Tarasy" to inaugurate the first edition of the Polish Film Institute Awards, which will be presented annually. Statuettes were presented in 11 categories.

Golden Lions for "Saviour Square"
Saviour Square (Plac Zbawiciela) by Krzysztof Krauze and Joanna Kos-Krauze were awarded Golden Lions at the 31st Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. Jowita Budnik and Zbigniew Zamachowski received awards for the best roles.
