Zbigniew Zapasiewicz is remembered
Zbigniew Zapasiewicz, one of the most prominent post-war Polish actors, died on July 14. He appeared in over 70 films and in 170 performances at Teatr Telewizji (Television Theatre), and made numerous stage appearances at several theatres.
Polish films successful at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival
Filip Garbacz won a Special Jury Mention for his role in the film Piggies (Świnki) by Robert Gliński at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. A Special Jury Mention also went to Till It Hurts (Do bólu) by Marcin Koszałka in Best Documentary Film Competition, and a Special Mention was won by Scratch (Rysa) by Michał Rosa, which competed in the prestigious East of the West section.

Polish-German co-production Rabbit à la Berlin (Królik po berlińsku) by Bartek Konopka and Piotr Rosołowski will be screened during the prestigious DocuWeeks event in New York.
Warsaw shoot completed for "The Woman That Dreamed About a Man"
Principal photography was completed in Warsaw 1 July for The Woman That Dreamed About a Man (Kobieta, która pragnęła mężczyzny) and the team moved to Copenhagen, where shooting was set to wind up 24 July. The production by Danish director Per Fly was also shot in Paris.

"The Youth and Film" - The Festival of Film Debuts in Koszalin begins
This year for the third time the festival "The Youth and Film" will have a national formula, with only Polish debuts in the competition. In the feature debuts category, 12 films will be shown; in short films there will be 54 features, animations, and documentaries.
Winners at Kraków Film Festival
Unmistaken Child by Israeli director Nati Baratz was awarded the Golden Horn at the 49th Kraków Film Festival which wound up 4 June. The Golden Dragon, an award for the best film in the International Competition, was given to Moshe Zimmerman for Pizza in Auschwitz. The Golden Hobby Horse Award in the National Competition was given to Bartek Konopka for his film Rabbit à la Berlin (Królik po berlińsku).
"Happy Afonia" ("Afonia i pszczoły") by Jan Jakub Kolski now in cinemas
The latest film by the master of poetic cinema, Jan Jakub Kolski, transports the viewer to a world where the life of the protagonist, a middle-aged beekeeper named Afonia (Grażyna Błęcka-Kolska), passes slowly in relentless rhythm. Afonia is never without her camera, which she uses to document what she sees as the fascinating world around her.

49th Kraków Film Festival
