Polish Films Win in Vilnius

Two films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, Miłość (Loving) by Sławomir Fabicki and Gwizdek (The Whistle) by Grzegorz Zariczny, have won in their respective sections at the 18th 'Kino Pavasaris' International Film Festival in Vilnius, which closed on March 28.

Polish Animations in Annecy

On March 26, the lineup of the short film section of the 37th Annecy International Animated Film Festival was announced. The competition section will feature a total of nine films by Polish filmmakers. The Annecy International Film Festival runs from June 10 through June 15.

FilmG Award for Dariusz Sipowski

The People's Choice Award in the fifth edition of the FilmG competition, organized with support from the BBC and Cànan, went to Dariusz Sipowski, a Polish director based in Scotland. FilmG is a competition for short films made in the Scottish Gaelic language.

"Polish Illusions" at Festivals

Pomorskie iluzje (Polish Illusions), directed by Jacob Dammas and Helge Renner and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, screened at the Tempo International Documentary Film Festival in Stockholm, which ran from March 5 through March 10, 2013. The film will also screen in the DOCU/LIFE competition at the Docudays International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in Kiev, which runs from March 22 through March 28.

Polish Feature Film Competition

The lineup of the Polish Feature Film Competition at the 6th Off Plus Camera festival has been announced. This year will mark the first time that the festival presents awards for Best Actor and Best actress. The OPC festival runs from April 12 through April 21.

"Rosa" in New York City

The Polish Cultural Institute is organizing a screening of Róża (Rosa) by Wojciech Smarzowski, in co-operation with EUNIC-member European Cultural Institutes. The film will screen as part of the Disappearing Act V series of European cinema.

Polish Documentaries at Hot Docs

Thanks to the efforts of the Krakow Film Foundation, with support from the Polish Film Institute, Poland will feature as a special guest at this year's edition of the Hot Docs film festival. Ten Polish films screening in the 'Made In' section of the festival and one film in the 'Nightvision' section, a choice of Polish producers attending the Hot Docs Forum, and one Polish project featured in the pitching session - these are the key elements of the Polish programme at Hot Docs.
