"The Sound of Insects - Record of a Mummy" wins Planete Doc Review
The top award at the Planete Doc Review festival, the Millennium Award, was given to The Sound of Insects: Record of a Mummy (Odgłosy robaków - zapiski mumii) by Peter Liechti. The story concerns a hunter in a remote forest who discovers the mummified corpse of an elderly man and a detailed journal which reveals he starved himself to death.
"Rabbit à la Berlin" awarded in Toronto
The documentary film Rabbit à la Berlin (Królik po berlińsku) Bartka Konopki won an award at one of the biggest documentary film festivals, the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival. The film was chosen as the best documentary in the medium-length film category.
Retrospective of Polish animated films in Israel
A retrospective of Polish animated films is being staged until 3 June at three locations in Israel. Viewers will see over 50 films during the festival, among whose official guests will be Zbigniew Rybczyński and Izabela Plucińska.

The jury of the 23rd Tarnów Film Award festival, with Dorota Kędzierzawska acting as chairman, awarded the festival's Grand Prix to Małgorzata Szumowska for 33 Scenes from Life (33 sceny z życia).

The French-Belgian film Malban directed by Elodie Bouedec won the Grand Prix at the fourth edition of the Animated Film Festival in Łódź.
Chilean film "La Nana" wins top award at the Off Plus Camera Festival
Chilean director Sebastián Silva won the Kraków Film Award and a USD 100,000 prize for his film La Nana at the Off Plus Camera International Festival of Independent Cinema. The director will also receive PLN 1 million from the Polish Film Institute (PISF) to produce his next film in Poland.
