"Ida" Wins 38th Gdynia Film Festival!

The winners of the 38th Gdynia Film Festival have been announced. The top winner of the festival was Ida, a film directed by Paweł Pawlikowski, winning a total of four awards, including the festival's grand prize: the Golden Lions Award for Best Film. The Silver Lions Award went to two films: W imię... (In the Name Of...) by Małgorzata Szumowska and Chce się żyć (Life Feels Good) by Maciej Pieprzyca. The jury also gave a Special Jury Prize to Miłość (Loving) by Sławomir Fabicki and Bejbi Blues (Baby Blues) by Katarzyna Rosłaniec. The Platinum Lions Award for Lifetime Achievement went to director Jerzy Antczak.

Polish Films in San Sebastián

Drogówka (Traffic Department), a film directed by Wojciech Smarzowski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute will screen out of competition in the Zabaltegi section of the 61st San Sebastián International Film Festival, which runs from September 20 through September 28, 2013. Meanwhile Sceny sprzed (Spanish title: Escenas previas; English title: Previous Scenes), a student film by Aleksandra Maciuszek, has been selected for screening in the festival's student film section.

Man of Hope), Andrzej Wajda was presented with the 2013 Persol Prize of the Venice International Film Festival - an award aimed at celebrating legends of international cinema.

"In Hiding" to Premiere in Busan

The 18th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea will launch on October 3. The festival will mark the world premiere screening of W ukryciu (In Hiding), a film directed by Jan Kidawa-Błoński and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. This year's festival lineup also features several other Polish films.
