"Floating Skyscrapers" in France
May 14, 2014 marked the French theatrical release of Płynące wieżowce (Floating Skyscrapers), a film directed by Tomasz Wasilewski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
Polish Films at 67th Cannes IFF
May 14 marked the launch of the 67th Cannes International Film Festival. The festival lineup features a number of events involving Polish cinema, as well as several films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. Fragmenty, a graduation film by Agnieszka Woszczyńska, a feature co-production between Argentina, Poland and France entitled Refugiado (Polish title: Pod ochroną), lensed by Wojciech Staroń and Niebieski pokój, an animated film by Tomasz Siwiński, are screened at sections Quinzaine des Réalisateurs (Directors' Fortnight) and Semaine de la Critique (Critics' Week). All three films have been co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
"Ida" in the USA and Canada
Ida, a film directed by Paweł Pawlikowski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, was released theatrically in the USA and Canada in May 2014.
"The Girl from the Wardrobe" Wins
Dziewczyna z szafy (The Girl from the Wardrobe) a film directed by Bodo Kox and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, won the top prize at the 24th Mediawave Music and Film Festival in Hungary.

Nasza klątwa (Our Curse), a documentary film directed by Tomasz Śliwiński and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the audience award at the 11th Indielisboa Film Festival in Portugal.
"The Domino Effect" Awarded
Efekt domina (The Domino Effect), a feature documentary directed by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the Interreligious Prize at the Visions du Réel festival in Nyon, Switzerland.
Eliza Kubarska's Film Awarded at Hot Docs
Badjao. Duchy z morza (Walking Under Water), a film directed by Eliza Kubarska and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the Special Jury Prize at the 21st Hot Docs festival in Toronto, Canada - one of the world's most prestigious and North America's largest documentary film festival.
"Warsaw Uprising" supported by the Polish Film Institute in Cinemas
Powstanie warszawskie (Warsaw Uprising), the world's first non-fiction drama, will be released in cinemas across Poland on May 9, 2014. The film has received support from the Polish Film Institute.
"Papusza" Awarded in Uruguay
Papusza by Joanna Kos-Krauze and Krzysztof Krauze has received another festival award. Papusza, co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the ACCU/FIPRESCI Award for Best Foreign Film at the 32nd Uruguay International Film Festival.
"Violated Letters" in Japanese Cinemas
Cudze listy (Violated Letters), a film directed by Maciej Drygas, will screen in Tokyo's Iwanami Hall from May 19 through May 30. The Tokyo screenings will be followed by screenings in Nagoi and Osaka. The film was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
20th Polish Film Spring in Budapest
The 20th edition of the Polish Film Spring runs in Budapest from April 24 through April 30, 2014. Organized by the Polish Institute, the Polish Film Spring is the oldest event of its type in Hungary.
12th Kinoteka Polish Film Festival
The twelfth edition of the Kinoteka Polish Film Festival runs from April 24 through May 30 in London. The festival is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
M. Pokromski - Producer on the Move
Polish producer Mikołaj Pokromski has been selected to participate in this year's 'Producers on the Move' programme, which runs from May 17 through May 19, 2014 during the 67th edition of the Cannes International Film Festival.
Stanley Kubrick in Krakow
An exhibition about the life and work of Stanley Kubrick will be on display from May 4 through September 14, 2014 at the National Museum in Krakow. The Polish edition of this exhibition has been co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
