Polish Documentaries at Hot Docs

Thanks to the efforts of the Krakow Film Foundation, with support from the Polish Film Institute, Poland will feature as a special guest at this year's edition of the Hot Docs film festival. Ten Polish films screening in the 'Made In' section of the festival and one film in the 'Nightvision' section, a choice of Polish producers attending the Hot Docs Forum, and one Polish project featured in the pitching session - these are the key elements of the Polish programme at Hot Docs.

Agnieszka Holland Exhibition at FebioFest

Polish Film Wins Audience Award

The Audience Award for Best Film in Tampere (Finland) went to Łukasz Ostalski, author of the short film Matka (Mother). The film screened in International Competition at the 43rd Tampere International Short Film Festival in Finland.

"Entangled" Awarded in Prague

On March 12, the documentary Uwikłani (Entangled) by Lidia Duda received the Best Director award at the 15th One World festival in Prague. The grand prize in the festival's competition went to The Act of Killing by Joshua Oppenheimer. The awards ceremony will be held on March 13.

Camerimage on Oscar-Qualifying List

The Plus Camerimage International Festival of the Art of Cinematography has been recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as an Academy Award-qualifying festival in the Best Short Documentary category.

"Ve stinu": Czech Best Film Award

Ve stínu (Polish title: W cieniu, English title: In the Shadow), directed by David Ondříček and made in co-production between the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, received a total of nine 2012 Czech Lion awards. The film had been co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Oscars from Krakow?
