Films by Polish Directors at TIFF
September 5 marks the launch of the 38th Toronto International Film Festival. The festival's lineup of films from around the world features two films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute: Wałęsa. Człowiek z nadziei (Wałęsa. Man of Hope) by Andrzej Wajda and Ida by Paweł Pawlikowski.
Mateusz Banasiuk Awarded in Croatia
August 31 brought the closing of the 4th Avvantura International Film Festival in Zadar, Croatia. The festival's award for Best Actor went to Mateusz Banasiuk, who played the lead in Płynące wieżowce (Floating Skyscrapers), a feature film directed by Tomasz Wasilewski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
13th Polish Film Week in Vilnius
The 13th annual Polish Film Week will run from September 6 through September 12, 2013 in Vilnius. The event has been co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
Andrzej Wajda's "Wałęsa. Man of Hope" World Premiere in Venice
August 28, 2013 starts the 70th Venice International Film Festival. The festival lineup features the world premiere screening of Wałęsa. Człowiek z nadziei (Wałęsa. Man of Hope), a film directed by Andrzej Wajda and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
"Life Feels Good" World Premiere in Montreal
Maciej Pieprzyca's Chce się żyć (Life Feels Good), co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, will have its world premiere screening in main competition at the prestigious World Film Festival in Montreal. The 37th edition of the festival launches on August 22. The World Film Festival is the only competitive feature film festival in North America accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).
Polish Films at 2013 Monterrey IFF
Several Polish films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute will screen in competition at the Monterrey International Film Festival in Mexico, which runs from August 22 through September 1, 2013.
Polish Films at 2013 Aye Aye Festival
Three Polish short films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute will screen at the 19th Aye Aye International Film Festival, which runs from August 30 through September 7, 2013 in Nancy, France. The festival lineup features several projects co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
Polish Films at Let's CEE FF
Several films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute will screen in competition and out of competition at the 2nd Let's CEE Film Festival, which runs in Vienna from September 13 through September 21, 2013.
Polish Films at Anima Mundi 2013
Polish animated films will once again feature in the lineup of the Anima Mundi festival, which runs from August 2 through August 11 in Rio de Janeiro and from August 14 through August 18 in São Paulo. The festival will be accompanied by a retrospective entitled 'The Polish Animation School - Past and Future Generations'.
Roman Polański Retrospective in Berlin
A retrospective of films by Roman Polański will run in Berlin from August 16 through August 25, 2013. The event is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
Polish Films in Varna
Two films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, Bez wstydu (Shameless) by Filip Marczewski and Miłość (Loving) by Sławomir Fabicki, will screen at the 'Love Is Folly' International Film Festival, which runs from August 30 through September 7, 2013 in Varna.
13th T-Mobile New Horizons Winners
July 28, 2013 brought the closing of the 13th edition of the T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival. The festival's Grand Prix went to the Russian productionCelestial Wives of the Meadow Mari, directed by Alexey Fedorchenko. The festival was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
SOFA - School of Film Agents
July 26, 2013 marked the press conference for a new film initiative, held at the 13th T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival in Wrocław. The new project, entitled SOFA (School of Film Agents) is the brainchild of Berlinale programmer Nikolaj Nikitin.
Andrzej Chyra Recognized in Serbia
July 19 brought the close of the 20th European Film Festival in Palić, Serbia. Andrzej Chyra received special mention of the jury for his performance in Małgorzata Szumowska's feature W imię... (In the Name Of...).
"Our Curse" in Locarno
The lineup of the 66th Locarno International Film Festival, which launches on August 7, features the film Nasza klątwa (Our Curse), directed by Tomasz Śliwiński. Co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, Śliwiński's picture is a documentary student film, made at the Warsaw Film School.
Polish Projects at Ex Oriente Film
The first edition of the Ex Oriente Film international documentary film workshop will launch on July 17 in Rijeka, Croatia. Several Polish filmmakers are among participants of this year's edition.

Polish Films Awarded at 48th Karlovy Vary IFF
The 48th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival has drawn to a close. Two Polish films received awards at the closing gala of this year's edition of the festival. Papusza by Joanna Kos-Krauze and Krzysztof Krauze received Special Mention of the Main Competition Jury, while Płynące wieżowce (Floating Skyscrapers) by Tomasz Wasilewski received the Crystal Globe for Best Film in the East of the West competition.
Polish Screenwriters' Achievements
Screenplays written by Krzysztof Burdza and Maciej Rogala have received recognition at the international screenwriting competition in Barcelona.
"Baby Blues" Awarded in Taipei
Bejbi Blues (Baby Blues), a film directed by Katarzyna Rosłaniec and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the Special Jury Prize at the 15th Taipei International Film Festival.
